Late last year, the government announced changes to the private health insurance industry in Australia. The goal was to make health cover more affordable, relatable and accessible to everyday Australians who may think that health insurance is not that easy to get. The changes, which will be rolled out gradually between now and February 2020, are mapped out in a 22-page document – not the most digestible format for everyday Australians! 80,000 West Australians are waiting to see a public hospital specialist

The West Australia has reported that, "Almost 80,000 West Australians are waiting to see a public hospital specialist to find out if they need surgery, with an average waiting time of more than a year at Fiona Stanley Hospital." In fact, the waiting to wait patients who need to be assessed for surgery show that at the end of December last year, 79,517 patients were were waiting for their first appointment.
