It’s time to pack your bag so that you are all set to go to hospital when your baby is ready to arrive. But what do you pack? Here is a list of everything you and your new bub might need during your hospital stay.
The hospital and your obstetrician may also let you know what you will need to take with you.
Items for Bub
The hospital will usually let you know what they supply and what you will need to bring for your baby but here are some items to consider:
Nappies
Wipes
Outfits (one for going home)
Dummy
Swaddle cloths
Beanie & blanket (for going home if weather is cool)
Items for Mum
Remember to take any documents your doctor or the hospital may have given you pre-admission plus consider the following list of items to include in your bag:
Changes of clothes for day and night wear
Slippers or slip on shoes
Maternity & Breast Pads
Pen
Phone & Charger
Medicare card
Small amount of money
Plastic bags for dirty laundry
Toiletries
Camera
Video Camera
Few small toys for older siblings/visitors
Hairdryer
While you are packing your bag, it is a good idea to think about the car seat for your baby. Many parents like to have it fitted in the car before the baby is born so there is one less thing to do before taking baby home.
If there is anything you forget to pack you can always ask your partner, your parent or friend to bring it into hospital for you.
